It’s school holidays again in Victoria. If you’re spending time with little or big kids this holiday, here are a few fun and low-cost ideas to consider.

Love your local library

Local libraries are a great option for indoor activities for all ages. Most libraries offer special programs and activities during the school holidays, too. For little ones, find out when you can join in a weekly story time session. For older kids, finding books to borrow, taking part in a craft activity or joining a writing group can provide a wonderful creative outlet.

Take a day trip together

Save on taking a day trip via public transport or car by using your Seniors Card.

Victorian Seniors Card holders can access a range of discounts and benefits on public transport. On Victoria’s public transport, kids aged 4 and under travel free and those aged 5 to 18 can travel on a concession fare with a Child myki. Pop down to the park

If the sun is shining, Victoria’s playgrounds and parks are a great option. From fenced playgrounds for younger kids, to skate parks or bike paths for older ones, there’s a lot to see and do.

Get cooking

If you’re home for the day, spending time in the kitchen together can be messy, tasty and fun! The Healthy Eating Advisory Service has a range of recipes. For animal loving kids, there are plenty of options across the state:

• Check out a children’s farm like Collingwood Children’s Farm, Myuna Farm in Doveton or Bundoora Park Farm
