Did you know 3 million Australians are unpaid carers for family or friends? National Carers Week runs from Sunday 13 to Saturday 19 October 2024 and is a time to recognise and celebrate the enormous contribution carers make in our community.
This year’s theme of ‘Care for the Carer’ prompts us to ask: How can we better support those who balance caring duties alongside family commitments, work, or school? When we better our understanding of the unique challenges carers face, we can ensure they get the support and resources they need to continue their vital role in the community.
So take the time to check in and connect with a carer in your life during National Carers Week this October.
Visit the Carers Week for more information on events, programs and resources available for Victorian carers and their families.
National Carers Week is an initiative of Carers Australia, funded by the Australia Government Department of Social Services and supported by Carers Victoria.
