Recognise the outstanding achievements of exceptional women across Victoria by nominating someone today.
The Honour Roll celebrates women for their achievements across fields such as social justice, health, science, research, arts, environment, law, media and education.
The inductees come from all walks of life and from many different cultural backgrounds. They range in age and life stages. Some forged new paths for women today by challenging outdated ideas of what a woman can do. Others are young women redefining what leadership is for the future.
Senior women recognised
Last year, six outstanding seniors were inducted across three categories.
- Change Agents: Julie Oberin AM who has dedicated her life to eradicating violence against women and Adjunct Professor Manjula Datta O'Connor, an award-winning psychiatrist, clinician, researcher, leader, educator, and advocate.
- Trailblazers: Professor (Dr) Julie Andrews OAM, who is acknowledged by her peers and Indigenous community as a leading Aboriginal Victorian scholar. And Judy Small AM, who is recognised nationally and internationally as an outstanding singer-songwriter in the folk music genre, as well as being a former judge.
- Local Champions: Aunty Rochelle Patten is an award-winning Yorta Yorta artist and cultural practitioner who is a leader in law and justice, arts and culture, and environmental issues. And Lyndie Freestone piloted outreach mental health services for high risk and homeless youth and provided counselling to young people suffering from chronic illness.
Make a nomination for the Honour Roll
Honouring Victorian women is one way of progressing gender equality in our state.
By recognising these women publicly, we are showing girls and women what they can be – because if you can see it, you can be it.
More than 750 women have been inducted since the Honour Roll of Women began in 2001.
And now it’s time to nominate for 2025 – someone else or yourself! There are four categories:
- Trailblazer - An inspiring role model leading the way for women in a traditionally male-dominated field.
- Local Champion – An unsung hero whose voluntary or professional contributions to their community deserve wider recognition.
- Change Agent - A woman who has made an enduring commitment to their field of expertise, interest or work that has brought about significant and lasting change.
- Emerging Leader - A young woman redefining leadership in their chosen career, field or passion.
Nominations close on Sunday 16 March.
